Working Through Your Options

If you read through all the Rig information, you might be on information overload right now.  As we mentioned in the Intro, don't worry!  What you are actually recognizing is the true versatility of the Adjustable Rig.

Once you receive the Rig, use this information as your instruction manual.  Check the set-ups prior to firing up the cooker.  Again, it won't take long before the set-ups become second nature.  And, don't be surprised if after awhile, you find yourself using the information to brainstorm new cooking ideas.  

If you are new to ceramic grilling and Q'ing, we understand your enthusiasm to burn lump.  However, we also recognize that after seeing what the Rig can do, you may have a strong impulse to "jump into everything."  Even though we are the retailer, our suggestion is.....keep your initial purchase reasonable.  

Pick the Combo package that best matches your priorities.  Add a second pair of Crossbars if you misplace things and/or that key accessory you'll use right away.  After that, start grillin', Q'ing and enjoying yourself.  Then, when you decide to expand your cooking talents, you'll know exactly what accessories to get because you know the Rig.  We'll be here to help grow your abilities.

To facilitate your decision process, we outlined each Combo and what pieces are needed to create the popular set-ups.  Hopefully, having the information on one page will make your decision process easier.  

Starter Combo:  Large Adjustable Rig, Pair Crossbars, Large Spider & (pick one) 16.5" Round or 13"x17" Oval Stainless Grid

Customer Combo Package:  Large Adjustable Rig, Pair Crossbars, Large Spider, 13" Round Ceramic Stone, 13.5" Round Stainless Drip Pan & (pick one) 16.5" Round or 13"x17" Oval Stainless Grid

R & B Oval Combo Package:  Large Adjustable Rig, Pair Crossbars, 13"x17" Oval Ceramic Stone, Large Slide Guide w/ Crossbar & 13"x17" Oval Stainless Grid

We assembled two key accessory Combos.  

• Customer Slide Guide Combo includes: Rig Extender, 13"x17" Oval Stainless Grid and Slide Guide with Crossbar.  These are the three key pieces to sliding grids for the Customer Combo.  Both Oval Grids can be positioned at or above the felt line.  
• R & B Extender Combo includes the Rig Extender, 13"x17" Oval Stainless Grid and Oval Foil Ring.  These are the three key pieces to set-up the R & B Combo with the Oval Grids at or above the felt line and catch drippings.

1) Create an indirect set-up with 2 grids - lower grid slides at Rig Level 3.0 & large 18" grid is atop the Rig.  Need to pull the set-up to slide the lower grid.

2) Create an indirect set-up with 2 grids - lower grid slides @ the felt line & top grid is on the Rig Extender.  Both grids are Oval Grids.  No need to pull the set-up to access the lower grid @ the felt line.  Can also set lower grid on Rig Level 3.0 for big meats.  Stone on Rig Level 1.5 creates indirect set-up.  Same as #8 below, best baby back  rib set-up.

3) Create an indirect set-up with 3 grid - 2 lower grids slide & top grid is on the Rig Extender.  The 3 grids are Oval Grids with top 2 grids easily accessible.  Need to pull the set-up to slide bottom Oval Grid.

4) Grill on a single raised grid.  Large 18" grid is atop Rig, 6" above the fire ring and 2" above the felt line.

5) Best two grid grilling set-up, with lower grid sliding at the felt line and top grid on Rig Extender.  Both grids are Oval Grids and easily accessible.  No need to pull the set-up to access the grids.  Same set-up as #2, just direct now, no stone.

6) Best single grid indirect set-up, stone on Rig Level 1.5 or 3.0 with large 18" grid atop Rig.  This puts the stone above the fire ring.  Easy to pull the Rig for quick access to lump.

7) Best big meat set-up on 2 grids- 13" Stone & 13.5" Drip Pan on Spider, 16.5" grid on Rig Level 1.5 & large 18" grid atop Rig.  Need Spider for indirect set-up.

8) Best baby back set-up on 2 grids - sliding grids with lower grid at felt line, top grid on Rig Extender.  Can do four racks baby backs or St. Louis style ribs. Same as #2 above.

9) Best one stone pizza set-up - 16" Round Ceramic Stone atop Rig Extender.  This puts the stone high in the dome for convective and reflective heating.

10) Most combinations for a half grid set-up.  Can be direct or half indirect.  Add BGE's 13" small cast iron grid for searing on the Spider.
